Stevia is an herb native to Paraguay and Brazil. The Guarani’s rainforest Indians called the herb Kaa he-he, meaning "Sweet Herb". They have used Stevia leaves as a sweetener in Mate and other teas for more than 1500 years. The herb is also well-used in the rest of South America.

From Stevia an extract can be made of Steviol Glycosides, which is up to 300 times sweeter than sugar. Stevia’s incredible strength has made it popular worldwide with low-carbohydrate and sugar-free products. In 2011 Steviol Glycosides (not Stevia) was approved as a sweetener in Europe, and since then the market has exploded with products. Japan has been using Stevia as a sweetener since the 70's and today Stevia accounts for 40% of the markets sweeteners.

Because Stevia extract is so strong, it is also difficult to get the right amount. Therefore Superfruit developed a product called Sweet – 4X sweeter than sugar. Steviol Glycosides have been blended with erythritol (also known as Sucrose). Erythritol is a natural sugar alcohol that is derived from fruits and vegetables. Since Sweet is four times sweeter than regular sugar, it is easy to get the right amount, and it is a strong and potent product. Both erythritol and steviol glycosides have a glycemic index of 0, which means that they are excellent in for LCHF.
